Map of Ecuador showing location of Canoa

From Quito

The bus companies Reina del Camino, Coactur, and TransVencedores all have direct routes from Quito to Canoa, mostly from the Quitumbe bus terminal in the south of the city. These companies occasionally change their departure schedules, so your best bet is to go to the terminal and simply ask what time the next bus leaves. You can usually find departures in the mornings and also at night for overnight trips. The journey takes around 7-8 hours and costs roughly $11.

From Guayaquil and the South Coast

The bus companies Reina del Camino, Coactur, and Turistico all go towards Canoa, but sometimes they end just short of Canoa in the town of San Vicente, just 17km to the south. In this case you can take a taxi (10 minutes, $6) or bus (15 minutes, $0.75) the rest of the way to Canoa.

Arrival in Canoa

Buses will usually drop you off on the main street a couple blocks from the beach. Just walk towards the water and turn left once you hit the beach. Walk down the malecón (beach front road) about 4 blocks and you will see the Hostel Coco Loco on your left. We are located between Hostal Playa Azul and Hotel La Vista.
